What can I do to be part of the solution?

•Get informed and inform others.  The information and links on our website are a small sample of the information out there.  Use your own critical thinking and analysis skills to sort through the information and attitudes out there and to develop your own informed perspective on the issue.  Read websites, books, and articles to learn more.  Be wary of misinformation and extreme bias, which is very common regarding this issue.

Participate in and help raise awareness about boycott or divestment of companies, organizations, or institutions that contribute to or profit from the occupation.  Encourage other organizations and individuals to do the same.

•Join a group or organization in your local community to become active and meet others who share your concern for peace and justice in the region.

•If there are no groups in your community or at your school or university, then start one yourself or start a local chapter of a national organization.  Discuss information, screen documentaries, bring in speakers, and host events.  Invite the public.

•Write to, call, and lobby your senators and representative from Congress--and President Obama:

•Write letters to Israeli government agencies and U.S. or international funders of Israeli organizations that contribute to the oppression and dispossession of Palestinians, expressing your disapproval of their actions.

•Participate in or organize demonstrations, actions, and events that help raise awareness about the situation.

•Go to Israel and Palestine.  See for yourself what is happening there and talk to peace and justice activists while you are there.  Come home and offer to give presentations about your trip to student, community, or religious groups when you return.

•Become a volunteer or intern with an activist or policy organization in the U.S. or abroad.

•Write letters to the editor and other comments to news media outlets expressing your opinion of the issue or of inaccurate, misleading, or biased media coverage of the conflict.

•Donate money to Israeli and Palestinian organizations that engage in nonviolent resistance, and persuade others to do the same.

  1.    Speak out against all forms of hatred, bigotry, and racism, including anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and anti-Arab racism.
